By: Jessie Stone

When it comes to seafood recipes that the whole family will truly enjoy, shrimp is considered to be one of the top crowd pleasers. Aside from the fact that shrimp has a distinct buttery sweet flavor when cooked fresh, it's also quite versatile as it can taste good with just about any sauce or seasoning. Simply throw some fresh shrimp on to the pan with some salt and pepper and you'll be all set. If you're thinking of preparing shrimp for a family dinner or a small party for your friends, you might want to start looking up Asian inspired recipes that you can easily do in your own home. Want to get started? Here are 2 easy shrimp recipes that you can serve without having to spend a small fortune on catering.
Asian Shrimp Barbecue
To make Asian shrimp barbecue, you'll need 1.5 kilos of peeled and deveined shrimp, a cup of olive oil, a couple of tablespoons of lemon juice, a pinch of paprika with cayenne (more depending on how spicy you want the barbecue to be), 2 cloves of garlic and salt and pepper to taste. Before you get started on the preparation, be sure to preheat the grill. Crush the garlic with the salt and stir in the cayenne and the paprika powder. Combine the mixture with olive oil with some lemon juice and stir well. Throw in your shrimps and allow marinading for at least 15 minutes. Once the batch is coated, you can throw the shrimp to the hot grill. Brush on some oyster sauce in order to seal the juices and enhance the taste. Cook until the shrimps turn pink and be sure to serve immediately.
Fresh Shrimp Dumplings
Another Asian inspired recipe that you can try making is called the fresh Asian dumpling. To make, you'll need half a kilo of peeled and deveined shrimp, half a kilo of ground pork, 100 grams of chopped watercress, half an onion diced, half a can of watercress chopped, 1 glove of garlic, soy sauce, oyster sauce and sesame oil to taste, some salt and pepper to bring out the flavor. You'll also need 40 wanton wrappers as this recipe is good enough to fill 40 dumplings. First, mix together the watercress, water chestnuts, soy sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, onion and sesame oil with the pork. Spoon half a teaspoon of filling into a wrapper, then place a shrimp in the middle. Since you'll want your wanton to stick, make sure to wet the edges when folding it over. Pinch the sides evenly so that you won't end up with any fillings outside the wrapper while cooking. Depending on your personal preference, you can boil the dumplings for a few minutes or pan-fry them for a crispy outer skin.
So there you have it. Now that you know a couple more easy shrimp recipes, don't wait for the next party before you can attempt to make the dishes yourself. Serve your family and friends a meal they will truly remember by making shrimp.
