Portraiture is what one man is engaged in and his subjects include parakeets, alligators, and a winning black angus and this is not only becoming a highly specialized art business but a successful one as well. As he distinctly describes, ""If anyone wants a painting of their pet flea, I'll make one provided that there's a clear snapshot of it"". To this point, he opted to focus on animal subjects such as rabbits, horses, dogs, birds, cats, and just a single alligator.

When he was still a kid, he was fascinated in animals and art. But, as many an artist knows it's pretty tough to make a living out of selling fine paintings, especially when one has to support a wife and youngster. Continuing his studies he moved to the Bay Area where he tried to pursue a career in commercial art. A hobby of his during World War II was fine art after he opened his display business.

Actually it was his wife who suggested that he develop his hobby into a business after he painted a portrait of the siamese cats owned by a friend and even the cats were delighted that they rubbed and purred against his work almost ruining it in the process. When he entered into the pet portrait painting business, he was met with a desirable financial result.

The cow palace was the home of his freshest masterpieces. That prompted a shower of commissions to paint portraits of a champion rabbit, fine show horses, and even a pet parakeet whose owner fondly explained she had raised it from an egg. Requested by a famous television actor singer who was also a recording artist was for him to make a portrait of his horse. He was contracted to make the portrait of the award winning black angus. The subjects usually do not kick and he likes it better than painting people portraits.

The new director of the gallery and museum of a big university in Santa Clara is the former director of a big museum in San Jose who assumed her post last month and succeeds a reverend who died early last month. Well known in the art world is what the new director is and she exhibited locally at the palace of the legion of honor and nationally as well.

A local sculptor is also exhibiting at a gallery in San Francisco. The gallery will exhibit thirty of his works ranging from neo classical to highly abstracted forms. He conducts a ballet school other than being a highly talented artist and he is also a photographer and a writer. The movie spectre of a rose is one which he starred in. A display will be extended in a famous museum and it will be exhibiting more than 200 objects, paintings, prints, books, and sculptures from a private collection.

From one couple from Pennsylvania comes a collection spanning 50 years. The works of a dozen renowned painters plus scores of other historic greats comprise it. It was when he was still a student of Harvard that the husband began to collect books but now by purchasing them on installment he has been able to acquire many of the more valuable objects.
