Achievements of a lady doctor

A female physician was able to attain her prized medical career that with detours and odd parties but she did so in a roundabout route and as a tribute to an unswerving purpose. But she was never a single minded girl especially way back when she was in high school. Then, studying at a local high school, this lady's mind was divided between medicine and linguistics as possible career paths. So hedging her bets, she studies English, French as Spanish, then also took up all the science subjects. This girl, whose forte is communication, sought her Spanish teacher's advice in making her final choice. Her mentor said that while she can be a multilingual physician, she cannot make medicine second feed.

Making her choice and heading to the local community college meant that she had to endure nothing but science subjects as A-level subject matters. A couple of years followed and the outcome was not as pleasing as she wanted it to be but she did not back down. Her favorite subject matter was Chemistry and this was the only area she passed.

Through the back door of the university which is Natural Sciences, she entered so that she can take medicine the next year. While she enjoyed this time, she failed to transfer for she did not do well enough. Instead of A's, her grades were mostly B's. For this reason, and for her growing love of chemistry, she therefore decided to complete the degree.

As she love chemistry even more, chemistry and food technology became her majors. Her honors degree came in the field. There was not a single job out there for her right after she graduated. The first year that she was out of university, she was out of a job. She couldn't find a job at all. She started looking through the food industry for one. She'd ask why she got into this in the first place when faced with discouragement.

The only being that was able to give her a good job was a drug dealer who was aware of her great expertise in handling industrial kettles so he was willing to give her a huge pay. She describes that instance to be so alluring with the amount of money offered but then she made it very clear that she was taught by her parents to never consider money to be everything so she did not take the offer. She firmly held on to her dreams of becoming a doctor as she continued to apply to medical school. She accepted a teaching job while she was fearful and hopeless from not hearing anything from medical school.

She became a trainee manager the next year after leaving her teaching job after deciding that she needs more money if she ever gets accepted in medical school. She goes back to the time when she weighed out the pros and cons then even went to talk to different people and they all figured that if she would just opt to stay with the bank, she will remain an employee. Only medicine enables her to work on her passion while having her own business.

Two years later, she finally joined medical school. Year one led her to a mixture of fun and learning as how it traditionally goes. She just enjoyed it. Being a bookworm was not one of her characteristics but she studies and partied enough. She got honors in community health and even belonged to the top 10 in Physiology in her first year alone. What fascinated her about community medicine the most was its ability to make her connect to other people. As you enter into the homes, you get the picture on your patients' lives. She thought that the program was brilliant.

When the discussion about cutting up cadavers came, she said that she might get very squeamish but she won't be affected emotionally. But when it comes to Pathology, a new story comes in. Following them having to do autopsies on the recently dead, she cried for 10 weeks. She had gone emotional with their deaths. With her background in chemistry, she has learned to appreciate chemistry. Chemicals working in the body especially to rid it of disease was something she found so mesmerizing. She often goes to the library now for some journals even if she didn't do this before. After bagging an award in Pharmacology, everyone got shocked.

She shied away from being a bookworm and gained the reputation of a party organizer along with five other study mates. Three of them were awarded as all of them did well in their finals. A medal in gynecology was taken home by one of her group members among other awards. Now, we can confidently say that we never wasted our time.
