Are Birdcage Veils Really Just a Thing in the Past?

By: Mike Davis

If you have ever thought that birdcage veils were something of the past, think again. Just how many brides can resist the exquisiteness of these veils? They are just indubitably the hottest trend of our time.

But first you should know that birdcage bridal veils are just the same with cage veils, Madonna veils, and blusher veils. They are made of heavy and wide Russian or French netting. Most often they are short -- often just within chin length -- and are fastened to the hair of the bride by the use of a comb or hairpins.

These veils were ordinarily used long time ago and that is basically the reason why whenever today's bride uses one like it, it always looks old but certainly elegant.

If you are a non-traditional bride and wish to look different and more special, using one of these birdcage veils can be a fantastic idea. Actually, these veils are quite practical too, because aside from having to use less cloth, you won't have to worry about a bulky veil on the reception. Come on, even if the long and winding veils look nice in the eyes of the guests, they are surely not as nice to tote around! They are heavy and could be quite strenuous in the head. It can be difficult to mingle from table to table with a dramatically long veil.

One more great thing about these veils is they are great both for long and short hair. They easily fit all sorts of hairstyles too, so you can be assured of a stunning look no matter what your hair length and hairdo would be.

Birdcage veils are available in many bridal shops offline and online. They also come in different styles and colors. If you are artistic or quite adventurous, you can even make your own birdcage veil, or maybe redesign one.

Birdcage bridal veils usually come in neutral colors such as white and ivory so they can be paired with any color of wedding gown. They have nets with diamond patterns so they can cover your face as how veils are expected to, but will not totally block your face nor your vision.

To make your veil a little more special, you may opt to accessorize it. For instance, if you want to give it a more vintage look, you can use feather fascinators. You may also use tiny pins and brooches to decorate it further.

The great thing about fascinators is you can choose to wear them alone in the reception if you don't want to wear the veil anymore. But of course, if you intend to do it, you have to first discuss it with your practice hair appointment so he or she would do your hair in a way that will make this change convenient.

Birdcage veils are truly wonderful. If you have been thinking of using one as part of your wedding ensemble, you definitely have a great idea going in there.
