Are There Any Differences In Quality Between Combination Or Standard Blu Ray Movies And Discs?

By: Jerry Buza

While Blu Ray technology has been in the background for some time, only recently have individuals been able to buy Blu Ray movies and dedicated players. For, while originally in development, Blu Ray technology was aimed more at gaming consoles and theaters than television. However, now with HDTV and 3D televisions hitting the marketplace, along with combination Blu Ray and DVD movies on one disc, there has been an increased interest in such technology.

So, what exactly are the differences between movies played on a Blu Ray player and movies played on a standard DVD player? Quality, crispness and freshness of picture. In addition, if one is planning on obtaining one of the new 3D style televisions at any time in the future, one may want to consider using such a player rather than a standard one. As, when one is investing in 3D movies, one wants to have the best picture possible.

Of course, the more one knows and understands about how such players work, one then understands the importance of keeping all media clean and the player in proper operating condition. For, in doing so, one can protect such discs while also assuring one can watch a movie at the time one wishes to do so. Otherwise, one may have to have discs replaced, or at the very least resurfaced if such discs become damage due to misuse.

However, a clearer, crisper picture is not all such Blu Ray discs feature. For, such a disc can store a great deal more information than standard DVD, yet still read both formats. As such, one may expect to see a large of number of concert musicals released on such discs in the near future.

In addition, while having not been around for a long time, Blu Ray technology has been in the works for some time. As such, the development of such technology has seen a great deal of enhancement since originally developed and released in 2001. So, while there may still be a limited amount of games and movies available, more are on the way.

However, as newer technology becomes available, such as with new 3D televisions, Blu Ray is most likely going to become even more popular. As such, most likely one is going to find a greater number of titles at both retail and rental stores in the future. Still, in the interim if there are titles one is looking to acquire on Blu Ray, one may want to check with both with local and online rental stores for such titles.

For, while titles have been released in limited quantity, there are still over 2,500 which have been released in the United States and Canada alone. However, Japan has seen a wider range of titles, as currently over 3,300 titles have been released in the country. Of course, both surpass Australia which has only seen approximately 1,500 titles released to date.

As such, although such technology has been around for some time, chances are that both HDTV and Blu Ray technology will see advancements to such technology in the future. So, if one is in the market for a new Blu Ray set up in the future, one may want to consider either buying a HDTV now and an upgraded player later, or purchase both at the same time. Of course, if one does purchase both a 3D television and player, one can often upgrade to a new player at some point in the future when such players are upgraded.
