Backup Your Important Data Easily with the SanDisk Secure Digital Memory Card

By: Mike Davis

Aside from putting them inside digital devices, there is now a new grounds for buying an SD card; for backup. The 16GB SanDisk Secure Digital Ultra III Flash memory card has more than enough space to save almost 4,000 10-megapixel images from your camera or 3,000 songs, so it will easily store the valuable files you have in your computer.
A lot of people forget to properly backup their pictures, music files, documents, or any other types of files from their computers, they think that it's too time consuming. But when the time comes when their hard drive gets corrupted and all the data inside becomes unusable then you'd wish that you did back your important files.
For people who think that backing up their files takes too long, the 16GB SanDisk secure digital card has a solution. You only need to activate the automated backup scheme in the card and then just forget about it. Now you don't need to individually copy and paste your files to the flash drive, you can still go on with your work knowing that all your valuable data is saved for future use. Besides SanDisk's backup program there is also a handy real-time backup system from Memeo called Autobackup. Autobackup creates backup files automatically as you save them. Of course having two copies of the same file do use up quite a lot of hard disk space but that's a small price to pay for peace of mind.
Because the 16GB SanDisk secure digital card has a huge capacity, you can pretty much fit all of your important data files in it. After a few months then you can choose to archive the files in the card in DVD so you can free up the memory card for your more recent files. The memory card is also useful for photographers, even high-resolution pictures that reaches sizes up to 10MB are no problem, as 1600 photos can be packed into the tiny flash memory card. You can also use this memory card in modern high-definition camcorders; you can save at least 2 hours of high definition videos in one of these.
There is a downside to having a large amount of storage space in a flash memory card. Flash memory is notorious for usually failing on you, and if you have a 16GB card full of your vital files and it abruptly fails then it's likely that you can kiss those files goodbye; unless you are willing to spend a bit of money to recover them. This often happens if you use the memory card a lot, saving and deleting files on it, it's better if you use a smaller capacity flash disk. The 16GB SanDisk secure digital card is a great way to backup your files, but it's risky if you plan to use it frequently.
In this day and age where most of our important data are all in digital form, you should make an effort to frequently back up your files.
