Desperate Housewives Season One Synopsis

Set in the unreal town of Fairview in a modern, social suburb, lady of the house Mary Alice Young made her mind to end her apparently passive life. The 1st season of Desperate Housewives takes the viewer through the lives of those who have known her; her friends, neighbors and household. We discover that she committed suicide in fright that a bad household secret will be exposed should she be alive. At her wake, we are familiarized with her 4 dearest friends, who will make the primary characters in the season. All of them reside in the peaceful suburban city of Wisteria Lane and the story is told, with humour, by Mary Alice Young. She explains how the story will see her acquaintances trying to find the reasoning of her suicide, while managing with the ups and downs of their own amazing private lives.

The 1st season of Desperate Housewives guides us through the experiences of these four ladies; Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher), the unskilled, liked and mateless mother in search of new love; Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), the house-bound wife, mother of four and former career woman; Bree van de Kamp (Marcia Cross), the perfectionist mother of 2 emotional adolescents, struggling with a dying marriage; and Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria Parker), the other fashion model turned housewife, who handles an nervy husband and an involvement with her youthful gardener. The story is complimented by many bright supportive characters; Edie Britt (Nicollette Sheridan), the suburbs on-the-prowl mateless housewife and rival of Susan Mayer. Rex van de Kamp (Steven Culp), Bree’s sexually frustrated and altered husband, Carlos Solis (Ricardo Antonio Chavira), Gabrielle’s business concerned, executive husband, Mary Alice Young’s mystic and dark widower, Paul Young (Mark Moses) and James Denton (Mike Delfino) as Susan’s love interest. There are numerous minor cast who acted in Season 1 of Desperate Housewives, some of which became regular actors throughout the succeeding seasons.

The first season of Desperate Housewives accompanies the ensemble characters quite evenly. We see Bree as she battles to keep her breaking marraige life, Lynette as she battles to follow with the demands of 4 young kids and a husband who is regularly away on work. We see Susan as she presses away Edie in their joint progressions on Mike Delfino, and Gabrielle as she endeavors to keep her husband from being conscious of her affair with their immature gardener. The final stage of the 1st season shows Rex van de Camp dying while believing he was poisoned by his demanding wife. Carlos is familiar of his wife’s affair with their gardener, Lynette switching roles with her husband and holding on her last character as career woman and a badly received cliffhanger with Mike being threatened to get shot by his son.

From the ongoing story of Mary Alice, we realize that she figures out more about her trendy suburban town now than she ever understood before. Slow and steadily, she takes us over the secrets in every household and the dramatics of each relationship made in Wisteria Lane.
