Fiction and Publishing - Reality and Fabrication?

Below is the e-mail:
"I'm having trouble with the idea that fiction desires to own facts, it is fiction. I write non-fiction exactly as a result of it is grounded in fact. Fiction does not ground itself in fact, it return from the imagination of the author. Fiction is written for the only real purpose to entertain and to create folks notice an escape. Non-fiction needs one to think." ( email to me and alternative category members, September, 2008)
Now, I take a look at this email and assume that there are some terribly good points to it, for one fiction is there to entertain, however I disagree strongly with the thought that people scan fiction to be entertain and use it as kind of escape. A number of the simplest fiction books that I browse, also cause me to consider my life and the planet around me. I'd argue (and I did) that Gone with the Wind required a heap of research.
I worry that people who need to write fiction do not want to deal in facts. After all I admit that for all of regarding twenty seconds, I did to, till I began to write. Then it was well, what about? what if? even with a pure fantasy book. I love writing in each fiction and non- fiction. I think each take research and time to develop.
Both need folks to think. Even in non-fiction there's a sort of descriptive and visualization that comes from fiction. For example, The Last Days of Glory by Tony Rennell, uses this technique to indicate how Victorian London was like, using narrative non-fiction. Another one that is extremely sensible is John Shors, Beneath a Marble Sky, it created me think of all the potential outcomes of people who live their lives, but aren't famous.
The goal for each varieties of writers, of both non-fiction and fiction is to write something that the general public will get pleasure from and read. It could take a year, or a lot of, but the main focus is that the goal of writing a nice book, one that the author will be proud of.
There's not a smart or bad thing regarding either kind but to counsel -as this email did- that one is best than the opposite is wrong. Writers produce and people who fabricate tend not to get printed, or they do not believe in their writing.
The Query is: Will this person have a legitimate purpose
