Help! I've got mice and they are causing me trouble

Since I bought this new apartment, I have been plagued by mice and now I have decided very instantly to do something about it! These pesky mice have been trying to chomp everything including my trainers and dress! Every time I go to my closet my stuff is ether chewed or covered in mouse droppings. So I checked out the internet and found where I could get poison to get clear of them.

To begin with I started with the poison which I selected a chronic anticoagulant rodenticide which promised to kill within 5 - 10 days. This seemed to work. It was a grain bait which I placed inside bait boxes and open trays to try and persuade them to feed.

Once they were feeding then it was straightforward from there. The numbers started to die off but I was left with a few stragglers that would not feed on the poison bait so I decided to try traps.

The traps I first started to use were just the straightforward break back traps that I baited with a piece of chocolate which again worked well then I changed to a more advanced electrical mouse trap which worked on batteries. These batteries then sent a small electrical charge through a metal plate inside the box which electrocuted any mouse that went inside the box. The only down side was that I had to remove the dead mouse which wasn't a satisfying job.
Finally about 6 weeks after finding the right equipment I am now mouse free and can sleep serenely in my bed without the knowledge that I will be woken up by mice running over my head. In the end think I was able to remove well over 100 mice from my abode. The big question is where did they come from?

Well I think they came from the subterranean vault which has an old air vent to the exterior which is broken and when I looked closely at this I could see hairs and droppings around it so I am pretty sure it is the source. I have since blocked up the hole with a bit of wire wool to ensure no more mice can get through.

If I was coping now with a mouse swarm then I am positive I could get control rapidly with my new expertise. First I would use the traps along with poison so I had a two pronged approach instead of starting with poison and then moving onto the traps. I am sure this would work more effectively and get clear of the mice quicker and therefore enable me to relax sooner and live in a studio without mouse droppings and all the tribulations connected with having an invasion that goes on and on.
