Horse Racing - Here Comes Another System

Yesterday I spent about 8 minutes of my life watching a promotional video for a new horse racing system that is to be launched tomorrow. I was told how fantastic it was and that only 300 hundred copies would be made available and as 18,000 people had been sent the video I would need to act fast..In fact if I wanted I could have a 2 hour head start before the official launch if I responded to the e-mail.
I have no idea how good or otherwise this new system is. I do not know how it works so what I am about to say is no criticism or recommendation of that or any other system. It is just my thoughts about why when so many systems fail to live up to their claims. Despite this we rush in our hundreds to purchase new ones when they come on the market.
I suppose by nature all punters are optimists and that is why we believe that next time it might just be different. Sadly it rarely is and that mirage of the never losing system disappears once more over the horizon.
I think that there are two types of system promoters, the fly by night and the dedicated racing person. The former is just interested in making as much cash as possible before the bubble bursts and the latter believes totally in the effectiveness of his or her system. Unfortunately, even then the most dedicated developer can become over fond of their “baby” and simply miss potential problems.
From amongst both these groups on occasion gems will appear, systems that truly work well and are based on sound principles. The other day I saw details of a system that was based on Chinese Astrological signs which I thought was pushing credibility a little far. However, with the way some of the recent results have been going it could be as good a method finding winners as any, but I doubt it…
I shall not be taking up the offer to buy the new system when it is lauched. These days I have learnt that it pays to stand back. In about four weeks the Internet will be full of reviews and comments about the new system. If people whose opinions I respect give it the thumbs up then I may buy it. If a system is any good, missing the first month will not matter because it will remain profitable for the foreseeable future. If it is rubbish I would rather have other people use their money to find out.
