Driver safety is all about being ready for your trip on highways and public roads. Being aware of ones space is the most critical factor in safe driving. Know your safe and the safety of others by being prepared and aware of conditions. Being a skilled truck driver and knowing your truck is working safely will raise your odds of a safe run.

One distracted moment can be a fatal mistake on a dangerous highway. When traffic is busy and people are in a hurry it only takes one person to cause a chain reaction. Advance knowledge of your surroundings and keeping your mind on the road will insure a good shift. If you see a dangerous driver try to avoid them and call the police and help keep the roads safe.

As deadly wreck rates increase and the chances of you being in an accident increases the more you are on the road.

Staying off your phone and eyes on the wheel can save your life. Try to make phones calls on breaks and during lunch and avoid using it while driving.

Before you leave out on the road make sure all your tires look safe. A well serviced truck and good breaks will insure a safe trip. Inspect all your fluids and make sure your lights are working properly also.

Another thing that will keep you safe on the road is placing any items you need while driving near you. Don't forget your drivers license and any other needed documents like trip permits and log book.

Staying calm is also an important attribute to have while being a driver. You cannot let other driver attitudes turn you into bitter driver. Bad drivers are everywhere and keeping a good distance is a wise choice.

Plenty of food, clothes and water will insure a well planned trip. Keeping a good supply of water can be important in case you have a leak or other issue. It is also a good plan to bring extra hoses and the proper tools just in case they are needed.

It is also always a good idea to inform someone of your location and your plans just in case you run into bad weather or a break down. Breaking down in the hot desert or cold mountains can be a deadly choice during the wrong season.

If you are a long haul trucker having a teammate may be a wise decision if you are wanting a safer shift. A fresh driver always makes a long trip easier and safer. Team drivers are proving to be important for goods that need expedited service.

Approach mountains and curves in the proper gear and be cautious of conditions. Always be prepared for weather and driving conditions.

Try to keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Being aware and awake will increase the chances of a safe trip. Always buckle up and be prepared for a great road trip.
