Las Vegas Luxor

Even first time visitors to the Sin City may have heard of Las Vegas Luxor. It is probably one of the places that most people know at least from pictures and documentaries when it comes to touristic attractions around the world. On the location of the hotel, there used to be the Pyramid House, but much of the former atmosphere has been preserved in this themed resort. The name is taken from the city of Luxor, located in the Valley of the Kings in ancient Egypt.

Built in 1991, Las Vegas Luxor underwent renovation in 2007. Tourists have more than 4,000 rooms available in addition to restaurants, clubs and lounges. One of the walls of the new pyramid displayed a huge ad for Absolut Vodka, but it was removed in 2008. Reviews say that the former look of Las Vegas Luxor, prior to the renovation, had more of the Egyptian atmosphere than the present-day structure. A river surrounded the casino and tourists where given a boat trip of the place. The river was later removed because of tourist complaints that the trip took too long. Some superstitious voices even claimed that the river was haunted by the ghosts of two workers who had lost their lives working on the casino.

The resort Las Vegas Luxor also used to have a night club, a theater and many other attractions. Nowadays things are a little different. CathHouse presently replaces the two former restaurants, and modifications took place at the nightclub as well; fortunately, the Las Vegas Luxor Steakhouse has only changed the name, as well as the IMAX theater.

Las Vegas Luxor is very well-known because of its design, the work of Veldon Simpson. It is actually a pyramid of black glass that has rooms and facilities along 30 stories in height. The portico-like structure goes under a huge recreation of the Giza Sphinx which also makes it strikingly known to so many people. At the top of the pyramid there is a tower of light pointing upwards and being considered one of the strongest beams in the world.
