Seven Infamous Criminals from the Annals Of American History

The United States may only go back a few hundred years, but they have a long history of criminals. In 2008, there were 2.3 million people behind bars. And approximately one in every nineteen men in the United States is in prison. The British Isles sent their convicts many places, including Australia and AmericaEngland used to ship some of their criminals to the colonies when America first began, and the U.S. has always been a defiant nation with unruly citizens. We are well known for not liking the strictures of society at times. That mindset has continually been passed on over time. It is not surprising then, that America has had more than their fair share of criminals such as the following 7 so it’s necessary there’s strong law enforcement.
Early in America's history there weren't too many employed to uphold the law, but as the country blossomed the need for officers and others to uphold the law grew as well. Throughout our history there have been many bright and cruel criminals. Fortunately, there have been thousands of officers who have willingly sacrificed and endangered themselves in order to capture these criminals and keep the public safe. With a lot of time and effort, officers were able to hinder the crimes that were being committed by these 7 individuals.
1. Jesse James - lead a group of thugs, bank and train robber and was a murderer as well. He was not ever captured by law enforcement but was killed by a man in his own band of thieves.
2. Al Capone - The infamous gangster was arrested and accused for bootlegging liquor during the Prohibition era but was only convicted of income-tax evasion. He served in Alcatraz.
3. Bonnie and Clyde - During the Great Depression these outlaws robbed a dozen banks and were allegedly guilty of killing approximately 9 police officers and numerous civilians. They were later killed by police.
4. Ted Bundy - The serial killer was identified as the perpetrator of more than thirty murders but the actual number is unknown. He was executed for his last murder in Florida in 1989.
5. Frank Abagnale Jr., - Frank was known for check fogery that earned him $2.5 million across twenty six countries during the 1960s. He also passed himself off as a pilot, prison inspector, doctor, lawyer, and 4 separate guises. He now works as a U.S. security consultant for the FBI and runs his own corporation.
6. Timothy McVeigh - The former army veteran was convicted and executed for his role in the Oklahoma City bombing where one hundred and sixty eight people were killed.
7. Colton Harris Moore - This 18-year-old remains adept enough to elude authorities several times. He is suspected of stealing four aircraft, a boat and a vehicle as well as committing home burglaries in the Pacific Northwest.

Six of these criminals used to be, and 1 still remains a bain to law enforcement officials. There will be more like them in days to come. Criminal Justice is a profession that is expected to continue to grow, and therefore it has terrific job security.
