Tanzania lodges – 5 Tanzania lodges in Tarangire National Park

There are five different Tanzania lodges that you can stay at while on safari in Tarangire National Park. The five lodges are Oliver’s Camp, Tarangire Treetops, Swala Camp, Kikoti Camp, and Tarangire Sopa Lodge. Each place has its own charm and the choice of where to stay depends on your preferences.

Oliver’s Camp is a lodge with tent accommodations, but not plain old camping tents. Rather the tents are actually set up as permanent tents with luxury suite accommodations. The accommodations include there being a bathroom and an open air shower. Part of Oliver”s Camp charm is its library. Anther amenity is that they offer walking safaris.

The Tarangire Treetops is an interesting Tanzania lodge with tree house style lodging offerings. This lodge has 20 different tree houses for guests to stay in. Besides the unique accommodations Tarangire Treetops is also unique in that it is the only lodge in the Tarangire National Park that offers night drives.

Swala Camp is similar to Oliver’s Camp in that it is tented style suite accommodations. Swala is an even more luxurious Tanzania lodge, though, as they have personal butlers for guests. One of Swala’s amenities is a dining tent were pan-African cuisine and fine wine is served. Another amenity is that there is a resident leopard that can regularly be spotted.

Kikoti Camp has 10 tent style suite accommodations. This Tanzania lodge’s amenities include having a variety of walking safaris and night drives (it is outside the park, so not the same as what Tarangire Treetops offers inside the park). The location outside the park is actually a benefit in what it allows you to experience in the walking safaris, though. There is also a nearby Masai village that you can visit and learn about their culture including watching traditional dances by the campfire.

Tarangire Sopa Lodge is a typical hotel style accommodation lodge in the Tarangire National Park. It is slightly out of date and not quite as luxurious as some of the other camps, especially Swala Camp, but it is still a comfortable more affordable lodging option. This lodge has about 70 rooms. The amenities include air conditioning, balconies, and a pool. There is also a rooftop barbecue area along with tables by the pool as options for places to dine while staying at Tarangire Sopa Lodge. This Tanzania lodge is alos conveniently located near the center of Tarangire National Park.
