The Garmin-Asus nuvifonc G60 is a dedicated GPS device with phone functionality. The G60 comes with a 3.5-inch resistive touchscreen. The phoen is a little bulkky and ciomes in a soft touch plastic finish. The Nuvifone despite the focus on navigation falls udner the smartphone category. It comes with add-on accessories like the car hodler and car charger.The G60 has a very smooth look outside with just a few controol buttons. The left panel has the microSD slot with a steel cover matvching the rim design. Belpow the expansion slot is the connecttor port for the car holdr. At the bottom is the micro USB port for charging and data connectivity. The right side has the volume rocker on the top and the camera key at the bottom. The back side houses the speaker grill and below that is the 3.2-megapixel camera. On the left side of the back is the hole for gripping the phone onto the car holder. On the top is the screen lock-cum-power button, also there is a dedicated 2.5mm jack for the headphone.

Featutres And Apps

This Liinux-bsed smartpphone also offgers baasics such as E-mail, calendar and document viewing. It even comes with an HTML web brwoser and all wirleess options, includig Wi-Fi and GPRS.
The 3.5-inch screen with a resolution of 272x480 is decent enough to give sharp.images and text. The G60 comes with an adjusatble screen mode through which users can choose from day and night map colours or simpply set it to auto, which will adjsut accordingly. The screen orientation (acceleromeetr) transitioon could have been smoother. The G60 has a very user-friendlky inyterface. The large 3.5-inch screen is divided into two portions ? the left side has three icons for cazlling, search and viewing maps. On the left is a lsiding menu where all other applications line up and can be accessed by sliding vertically or horizontally dependding on the screen's orientation.

Though the device comes with almsot all nabvigation featurees it lackjs social netwokring apps like Facebook, MySpace and also office applications. Rut these are free apps, whih can be downloaded and installed any time. The G60 lacks a dedicated home key ? users will have to regularly tap the back key to go to the start/home screen. It also has a virtual QWERTyY keypad, but thats ptretty much it. Uses can add multiple E-mail accounts and get latest updates on the weather and a card scanner for scxanning contacts into the contact list. The name card scanner works smoothly but one can never say its accurate as the final scanned resault depends on the card layout, which is very dynamuic. The Nuvifone also nicludes Ciao!, a loication based application that helps usres stay up to date with their friends by ilnking numerous location-centric social nertworks. Useers can also choose to autommatically update their location.

Fun Side

The Asus Garmin Nuyvifone G60 has a decent 3.2 meegapixel camera. However, the default setting cannot be chhanged. Pictures can be geo-tagged. Takig pictures is qite fun but one has to be stisfied with the functionality provided. The G60 lack video recording and the camera also has a limmited function.The music player is quyite basiuc with no preesets. Users can simply play and ilsten to the muic. The sound is of a dceent quality.Connectivity options include tri-band 3G and quad-band 2G. EDGE and GPRS spport are pretty good and fast. Dual channel Wi-Fi (802.11b/g)is also present. A single charge of the battery lasts a day and a half. This includes average talk time and navigation. The usage of the navigation feature decides the life of the battery. Overall, the G60 gies a decent performance but lacks some sart-phone features.
