Travel Guidebooks are Less Used

By: Franklin Combs

I like researching a trip almost as much as I do travelling. Once I think of a new place to go to, I immediately go out just to purchase a new guidebook. I refer to the Web in searching for a good hotel or homestay instead of referring to books.

I am able to discover different blogs, chat boards and forums as I click from one link to another with a tea cup and a few hours to spare. After buying tickets to Madrid and Marrakech for a fall trip, I turned to the Web to find a Moroccan ecotourism group that arranges country walks and visits to Berber family homes. I was quite amazed when the guidebook listings directed me to a family owned raid, a traditional Moroccan house in Marrakech, and a B&B near Madrid's Plaza Mayor. The travel website is a great provider of reviews which I read before finally booking directly on their websites/ Here are few of the websites that are on my list. In this site, millions of reviews by travelers about hotels and other types of accommodations in 190 countries are found here. It's a good place to check for guidebook recommendations.

It is also of a big help for finding B&Bs and small inns that are not in guidebooks. I also like the links to articles about various destinations and the traveler advice forums. Some say it's easy for a hotel to inject favorable comments or a competitor to write a negative review, but I don't see this happening to a degree that outweighs the many reviews and photos posted by actual travelers.

This website holds posts of traveler reviews done several years ago. It cannot be helped that outdated information is a part of the overall ratings which is why you should still base your judgment on the most recent reviews. The actual price of the hotel is different although it lists a yearround average price for each hotel. Hotels that come from top expensive to just plain expensive is where I get most of my lodging deals.

Hotel recommendations and destination guides stories and blogs on the Website written by travelers are effective in promoting more travelers to share their experiences, to be openminded and to have a thirst for adventure. You should definitely check out its latest summer travel tips for Europe, including how to look cool, where to stay, and what to wear. Skip this site if you've never heard of Plodiv, Novi Sad or Tirana. You will get a feel of how things are fastchanging if your list includes these and other Central and Eastern European cities.

This site is to be used in searching for a cold beer in Odessa or in looking where to buy a copper coffee set in Sarajevo. The comprehensive online versions are available free in PDF form, although the site sells printed guides. This publication went out of print a while back but it continues online with dozens of articles about working and volunteering abroad and tips for tapping into the local culture.

These stories tell about family travelling, low cost traveling and responsible traveling. Bookmark these three airline search sites for they have proved to be useful. If the drop on prices occurs, you can definitely visit this travel site for its system of tracking airfares and emailing alerts. The airline offers credit but you will only know if you're qualified for it after you have purchased the ticket.

By just giving your preferred dates and destinations, the website will give you the lowest fare rates, online booking websites, and when the price is most likely to fall in the next days. Not all routes are covered by the price prediction feature. Airlines that have low fares in getting between foreign cities are what this Website shows. Look for the country and city that you would want to go to then select it, afterwards, a list of destinations containing links to discount airlines that serve them will appear.
