Travel Sites Widely Used by Travelers

By: Marlin Schrs

Going out of town is something I like as much as researching on the places on where to go to. It's hard to stop myself from going out and buying a guidebook the minute I start thinking about a new destination. But when it comes to the natty gritty of finding a hotel or homestay, searching for a cooking class or just gauging the opinions of real travellers with no vested interest in selling books, I turn to the Web.

A scenario which I will be undergoing for the next few hours includes a cup of tea, a computer, and a bunch of links with blogs, chat boards and forums. I searched in the Internet to look for a Moroccan ecotourism group that arranges country walks and visits to Berber family homes after buying tickets to Madrid and Marrakech for a fall trip. I used the guidebook listings and it guided me to family owned raid, a traditional Moroccan house in Marrakech, and a B&B near Madrid's Plaza Mayor. Upon booking directly on their website, I first read the reviews posted on a travel website. Here are few of the websites that are on my list. Millions of reviews authored by travelers about hotels and the types of accommodations in 190 countries are all included in this site. Crosschecking guidebook recommendations is better done in this place.

Small inns or B&Bs that are not listed in guidebooks can be found in the web. The links that I like have forums that a traveler could get an advice from and articles about different destinations. Some say it's easy for a hotel to inject favorable comments or a competitor to write a negative review, but I don't see this happening to a degree that outweighs the many reviews and photos posted by actual travelers.

Several years ago, travelers? reviews are posted on this website until today. It cannot be helped that outdated information is a part of the overall ratings which is why you should still base your judgment on the most recent reviews. Each hotel has a yearround average price by the site, but the actual price is often different. I get dozens of emails on lodging deals, but they're often for hotels that have gone from over the top expensive to just plain expensive.

As independent travelers read the blogs and stories of travelers that contain great places to visit and cheap hotel prices, they become inspired, openminded, and they develop a thirst for adventure with a willingness to share. Check out its latest summer travel tips for Europe, including sections on what to wear, where to stay and how to look cool. But skip this site if Plodiv, Novi Sad or Tirana sounds unfamiliar to you. Cities in Eastern and Central Europe as well as the cities stated previously are in your list, you will notice how things change so fast.

If cold beer is for Odessa and copper coffee set is for Saravejo, the exact locations on where to find them are based on this site. There is a free online comprehensive version in PDF form in the site as well as printed guides that are sold. Articles about working and volunteering abroad as well as tips for tapping into the local culture are contained in the site though publication stopped printing for awhile.

Stories concentrate on family travel, low cost independent and how to travel responsibly. These three airline search sites proved to be useful. The system of tracking airfares and emailing alerts that this travel site has should be visited if prices drop. The airline offers credit but you will only know if you're qualified for it after you have purchased the ticket.

By just giving your preferred dates and destinations, the website will give you the lowest fare rates, online booking websites, and when the price is most likely to fall in the next days. Not all routes are covered by the price prediction feature. Airlines that have low fares in getting between foreign cities are what this Website shows. All you have to do is select on the country you want to fly to then select the city, and afterwards a list of destinations and links to the discounted airlines appear.
