Tricks to Have a Site Listed In Google

How do you get a new web site listed in Google? Do you need to pay someone to repeatedly submit your web sites, or is there a simpler way to do it?

The fundamental way to get a website listed in Google is to go to the Google submit a web site page, enter your details and then leave the search engine to do its business. But this is inefficient. The pages themselves will tell you that it might take 6 weeks to get listed and once you do, there is very little power in getting listed this way.

You may have seen these adverts for businesses and products that will submit you to the major search engines every month, quarter or whatever. And they charge you quite loads for it, cash that you are wasting. If you are listed in the search engines then they do not need to be reminded that you exist. If you are not listed, then you need to get to the root cause of why you are not listed as opposed to constantly plaguing the search engines by reminding them that you exist.

So, what is it that makes Google and other search engines list certain brand new sites so quickly? My record is a new web site listed and found in the search results in under 2 days, it is not unachievable. And it is a very easy 'trick'.

Search engines determine the value that they give to a web site based on how numerous links there are pointing to that website. The more links that exist that are pointing to your website the more popular your site is deemed to be. And it is this popularity that makes your site interesting to the search engines and what makes them want to list you.

Therefore, to get listed on Google quickly (and the other search engines), you need some links in from 'authority' web-sites. As a site designer I can do this by linking from my own site to a customer's new web site and almost always see them listed more than the weekend. But, if this is your first and only website, that is not an option.

If you have friends who have websites then you could ask them for a link to your web site. For getting your web site listed, it is not really worth going to links directories and so on as their link popularity with the search engines is too low.

If you have the Google Toolbar installed this will help here as you might see the Page Rank of the webpage you are looking at. If it is a Page Rank of 3 or above, then you can probably expect Google to visit the page within a week. This means that within a week, it will have uncovered a link to your web site and been tempted over to your site and you should be listed soon afterwards.

Failing getting a link from a friend's web site, then you need to work on your link building straight away. It is worth starting this anyway as it will aid your search engine results position as well as getting you listed quicker.

So, to get listed quickly in Google and the other search engines you need to get several links from Page Ranked websites to your web site, but that is another article on its own!
