When You Have No More Time or Energy, Prioritise Your Resources

By: Justine Simard

Most people get to a point in their day, week, year or even in their life, when they decide they cannot do anything above what they are currently doing. They feel that they've attained their greatest output, they're exploiting all their energy and time, there isn't any more to produce, no more juice, this is as much as they can give to accomplishing their goals. They aspire to achieve success, but within the bounds of their resources and abilities. Fair enough.

There's no more energy. No more time. No more money. No more inspiration.

But then, obligation arises. There is a NEED to do more. There is no more time left, but your child is sick and you need to take time off for them. You have no energy, but you have an important deadline and are driven to sacrifice sleep. You don't have any money, but a friend or relative really needs your assistance. So how do you manage this? You change your priorities. The time you didn’t have, the energy that wasn't there, and the capital that wasn’t there, was manifested. By you.

Every person has their very own definition of personal success, and we make decisions every hour on where we allocate our energy, resources and time, according to the things we wish to achieve in relation to our greater goals, our values and our motivation to be successful in different areas of our lives. Each hour, we settle on how much we can do for reaching those goals. We decide if we can give 10%, 100% or 110%. We decide on our priorities, and allocate our resources on them.

So here are some important questions:

How do you define your priorities?
Where are your resources going?
Could you produce more resources to serve your goals?

Essentially, are your resources going to your priorities? But most importantly, are you able to create more resources to serve your goals? I have at times felt that I was giving everything I had to realise my goals. But I discovered that I had more in me. I discovered that I could not only improve my resources allocation, but generate more of those resources! When I thought I had no time to exercise, I got up earlier (revelation, I know!). When I believed my online business was my absolute priority, I remembered that the main reason I built this business is to bring up my 2 young kids at home (and that THEY are my absolute priority). When I believed I was exhausted, I brought a new focus to my health, adopted some important changes in my habits and routine, and manufactured more energy for myself. Usually, the solution is in shifting your resources to better reflect and serve your priorities.

What do you think? Can you shift your resources to better serve your priorities? Could you give more to attain your goals through this process? Are you spending time, energy and money on things that basically don’t serve your online business, your individual success, your purpose, your passion? Remember to leave me a comment and to share this with your networks!
