Worship Conferences Aren't The Whole Thing

By: Darin M Browne

How many times have you ever been to worship conferences, been inspired by some really terrific praise and worship leaders, nevertheless come home to your native church solely to discover that you continue to do not recognize how to lead worship effectively? Worship conferences are great, but every time I actually have attended them (and I have been to scores of worship conferences during the last 2 decades) I actually have never actually come away with new, exciting and efficient tools I will use in my very own church.

The fact is that, if we tend to attend worship conferences with the expressed aim of changing into best praise and worship leaders, we will be ultimately disappointed. Worship conferences are actually a source of inspiration and challenge, not a source of coaching which you can really use in your own experience.

Part of the explanation for this is during the limited time on the market throughout worship conferences, and in the various skills of the attendees, a number of whom are beginners while others are experience and accomplished praise and worship leaders.

Another reason for the shortcoming of effectiveness of countless worship conferences is that the speakers either cannot articulate what is to them a natural ability, or they are going to not articulate it; since to reveal their praise and worship leading secrets will trim down the regard or mystique they even have as worship leaders. I appreciate which this is often a controversial issue to say, but as an individual who has lead worship and similarly attended worship conferences for years, I realize that there are techniques and skills that terrific praise and worship leaders possess which poor one do not, and that these skills may be taught.

Sadly, worship conferences don't teach the skills which fewer experienced leaders require to actually lift the level of their worship. Commonly here skills are alluded to rather than spelled out for the struggling praise and worship leader and frequently, most notably at the many worship conferences which happen every year, they are replaced by spiritual jargon that continues to build up the image of the anointed leader. Please do not misunderstand me, I'm not suggesting which great leaders are not anointed, neither am I suggesting that the Holy Spirit plays second fiddle to tricks and techniques. I'm suggesting that, regardless of what you could hear at countless praise and worship conferences, there are practical and efficient techniques and tips which you are able learn to improve your leading in your church. Each one you need to perform is attain an accomplished and experienced praise and worship leader someone who is willing to reveal them to you.

Does this mean which worship conferences are useless? No, of course not, but 1 or 2 days during the presence of terrific leaders cannot and can not have an effect on you as much as weeks or months of solid coaching, teaching you the precise techniques and tools which help here excellent musicians and singers become wonderful praise and worship leaders. Worship Conferences are conducted to help you us be inspired in our craft, and to show us the extent that others have obtained after they direct worship. They do not teach us the practicalities of how to pick the right songs, how to mix songs, how to go up keys or apply other styles to our worship. They do not teach us how to manage our groups, how to deal with the egos, how to follow the Spirit in worship and how to mix with and serve the design of ministry your Pastor has.

The truth is that, as inspirational as worship conferences can be, they can not train you in how that a complete course, like “Worship In A Nutshell” can. So instead of pinning all your hopes on the following in a long series of worship conferences, why not take a few time out and let us display you how to acquire training that may actually help you to lead worship, starting next Sunday?
